Demo cake for Michael's

I made this cake for a demo at Michael's. I think it turned out cute, it was Joe's idea to do all stars and one moon.

This is a vanilla cake with fudge filling, butter cream icing and fondant on top. The decorations are fondant on-lays (where the stars are stacked) and fondant in-lays (where each star is nested in the next).

Display cake for Michael's

This display cake had to be this design to promote our new Gumpaste and Fondant course. Display means the "cake" is actually Styrofoam...yum! You can visit this cake LIVE and in person starting Monday at Michael's in Wilkes-Barre!

Banana cake

I wanted to try a new banana cake recipe that was given to me by Rita. I went with a boiled icing which tasted great but it was too thin to decorate with. Thanks Rita, it was delicious!

The flowers on top were left over from the cherry blossom wedding cake. Since they get really hard and you do not eat them, it came in handy that I had some extra!

Tri-force Cake

For those of you not in the know (aka not geeks), this is a cake with the tri-force from the video game series, the Legend of Zelda.

As you can see, my nerd brother-in-law loves this game. Happy Birthday, Tony!

Fancy Cupcakes

My co-worker Rita ordered these for a party. I can not take all the credit; Rita put together the baskets with the blue liners. They looked adorable!

Up close of the flowers on each cupcake.
