Thom & Alison's Cake - the Finished Product
After I stack the cakes, I hammer a long dowel rod down the center to keep the cake from falling over.
This is a beaded boarder to cover the seams where the cakes come together.
The branches I made out of fondant and tacked into place with gum-glue and toothpicks.
A close up of the flowers with the sparkles on them!
The finished cake! Congratulations Thom and Alison!
Thom & Alison's Wedding Cake - Before
Since the site is now up and running, I figured I'd give you a sneak peak on how I put my cakes together. Here is for our friends Thom and Alison's wedding on 05/15/10:
This is the first layer of white cake. The flowers I made a few days in advance they still need the sparkles at this point...
Next step is to put the dark chocolate icing on top for the filling of the cakes.
I have added the top layer of white cake. Think of it as a giant reverse oreo cakester!
Now to cover the cakes in vanilla butter cream icing.
These are the cakes covered in fondant.
Here I have inserted the dowel rods to prepare the cakes for stacked construction.
You are now up to date on Thom and Alison's wedding cake. After they get married, we will head over to the reception hall to put the cake together. I will have pictures up of the completed cake on Sunday!

Wedding Cake 04/25/10
Guitar Cake
Mini-Wedding Cake
This adorable little wedding cake was for a co-worker. It was only for 25 people. All she told me was that she had roses and calla lilies in her bouquet and her maid-of-honor was wearing purple. I got to pick the design which never happens!
This is a close-up of the flowers. I think they turned out really well!
